Studying at the TRF

We are pleased that you are interested in studying at the Faculty of Theology and the Study of Religion (TRF) at the University of Zurich.

The TRF offers the opportunity to study a wide range of fascinating topics and fundamental questions in a beautiful location in the heart of Zurich. Thanks to the excellent supervision, you can study God and the world in an informal atmosphere.

The offer includes both religious studies and theological study programs. Theology and Religious Studies have different focuses and view religion(s) from different perspectives. The career prospects for graduates are also not quite the same.

Old languages – new worlds

Languages open doors to new worlds - and they play an important role in many study programs at the TRF. For example, ancient languages such as Latin, Greek and Hebrew are a prerequisite for certain modules in biblical studies and church history, while modern languages such as Chinese, Arabic and Russian are often relevant to research in the Study of Religion. If you love languages, the TRF is the right place for you.

It is possible to study for one or two semesters at the Faculty of Theology and the Study of Religion (TRF) at the University of Zurich as a visiting student. The TRF offers international students ideal conditions for a semester or year abroad.
